Disciplinary and corrective-action procedure

Quality assurance protects clients and the integrity of certificates. When requirements are not met, the response must be evidence-based and proportionate.

When action may be needed

Action can follow audit failure, a breach of the Code of Conduct, insufficient CPD, unsuitable or expired insurance, or concerns about an assessor’s competence or fit-and-proper status. The relevant circumstances and strand requirements determine the response.

How the scheme responds

  • Review the evidence and tell the member what requirement has not been met.
  • Set out necessary corrections, training, evidence or other actions and the applicable deadline.
  • Apply enhanced monitoring or suspension where the rules require it.
  • Consider revocation for serious or continuing breaches, with written reasons and the relevant appeal route.

Members must continue to meet applicable insurance and record-protection obligations while suspended. A suspension is not permission to lodge certificates.

Appeals and the full procedure

Members may challenge formal decisions through the appeals process. Reviews must be impartial and use people who were not involved in the original decision.
