What a DEC measures
A Display Energy Certificate presents an operational rating based on the building’s actual energy consumption. It helps people understand the energy performance of buildings occupied by public authorities and frequently visited by the public.
The DEC and its advisory report serve different purposes: the certificate displays performance, while the report identifies opportunities for improvement. A DEC is different from the calculated asset rating shown on an EPC.
Preparing for accreditation
Applicants need the relevant DEC qualification or accepted competence route, suitable insurance and the ability to gather and check consumption and building data. We review your application before registering the scope of your accreditation.
Ask our helpdesk about the applicable building requirements, reporting period, evidence or conventions before lodging a certificate.
